Hide and Seek

Risa's fingers hovered over the keys. Once she played that first note, she knew she wouldn't be able to stop. Her eyes were closed. She couldn't stand to stare at the hideous instrument,an organ made of faces much less fortunate than her.

Risa wasn't sure when she started playing. The song was familiar, a tune was from before the Heartland War. Though she wasn't sure where she had heard it before, it seemed to be a perfect song
for the instrument
for her life
for all unwinds and wholies and awols.

If she listened closely, Risa thought she could almost hear the voices which once spoke from the lips before her singing along:

Mmm what you say,
Mm that you only meant well?
Well, of course you did.
Mmm what you say,
Mm that it's all for the best?
Of course it is.
